THEME: SLEEP

Close your eyes and drift into the unknown, where dreams become nightmares, and the line between waking and sleeping blurs. In the world of sleep, time is fluid, fears are amplified, and every flicker of movement might just be something reaching for you.

For Issue 5, we’re seeking submissions that explore the theme of 'Sleep'—whether it’s the horror of sleepless nights, the terror of waking up in a dream, or the eerie calm of eternal slumber. Think: the fever-dream horrors of A Nightmare on Elm Street, the haunting unease of sleep paralysis, or an insomniac descending into madness.

Do you have a story that will keep our readers awake at night? Step into the dreamscape and bring your nightmares to life. Submissions open January 1st 2025.

GENERAL FAQ

What language should I submit in?
English please.

Where do you accept submissions from?
Anywhere! We're not limited by geographies.

When can I expect to hear back?
This varies per issue.
For Issue 5, the submission period runs from January 1st to January 31st, meaning the latest you will hear from us is by February 4th —a maximum wait of 34 days from the submission opening date.

Do you read submissions as they come in?
Yes, we review submissions on a rolling basis during the submission window. This helps us manage the workload and ensures a quicker response time.

Will I receive feedback?
Yes! We rely on your submissions, so we're big believers that giving feedback is the least that we can do. If you choose to receive it, you will receive up to 100 words of personalised feedback. You can expect to receive this within 1 month of a decision.

How many submissions will be published per issue?
Our goal is 15 - this may vary from issue to issue, depending on factors like submission length.

Do you charge submission fees?

Unless you choose to opt for expedited submission, Divinations Magazine will never charge authors to submit to us.

Do you accept explicit content?
Think R rated, rather than NC-17.

What about compensation?
As Divinations Magazine is still in its early stages, we are currently unable to offer compensation to authors. However, once we reach a break-even point, we intend to implement a compensation structure for our contributors.

What about copyright?

It's all yours! All of our authors will retain full copyright of their submitted, accepted and published works. For a copy of a sample contract, please get in touch.
