Editorial Assistants

Are you someone who loves to read, write, and help others organize and create content? Seeking to gain some Publishing experience? Then the role of Editorial Assistant could be perfect for you! We are currently seeking Editorial Assistants to help create Issue Three: Siren.

As Editorial Assistant, you will be responsible for assisting the Editor-in-Chief (EIC) in various aspects of the magazine's Editorial process, including:

  • Proofreading submissions, making recommendations of acceptance

  • Assisting in copy-editing

  • Ensuring proper formatting, style, and consistency across the magazine

Why are we doing this?
We know how difficult it is to get experience in the Publishing industry. We're a small, but enthusiastic magazine who would like to be able to give back to the community that allowed us to be where we are now.

How will the experience work & what can I hope to get out of it?

We'd like to be able to give you an overarching experience of the Editorial process. Depending on demand, you will receive a maximum of 2 submissions that you will take care of from submission, copy-editing to final proofing.

How will Editorial Assistants be chosen?

We will be choosing EA's randomly. There will be opportunities to apply again for Issue Four later on in 2024.

Previous experience required: None

Pay: Voluntary

Hours per week: 1-2, although it may be less than this dependent on where we are with the Editorial Process

Location: Remote, worldwide

The role will run from January 26th 2024 until March 1st 2024.

We particularly welcome applications from individuals from underrepresented racial, socio-economic and cultural backgrounds, especially those who are interested in Horror.

Application Deadline: Midnight, December 15th 2024 GMT.

You can expect to hear if you are successful by January 3rd 2024.
